About Tri-Cities, Washington
The Tri-Cities area consists of three neighboring cities — Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland in Benton and Franklin counties — with a combined population of 253,340 as of the 2010 census. West Richland is often included in the Tri-Cities, although it is a much smaller city than Kennewick, Pasco, or Richland.
Situated at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake, and Yakima Rivers in Southeast Washington, the Tri-Cities offer an abundance of outdoor recreation in addition to friendly downtown areas, upscale dining and retail options, art galleries, antique shops, and a variety of entertainment venues.
The Tri-Cities economy has historically been based on farming, with the hot summer days and volcanic soil producing premium wine grapes. Known as “The Heart of Washington Wine Country,” the Tri-Cities region is home to more than 160 wineries within a one-hour drive.
The Tri-Cities enjoy excellent transportation options. Interstate 82 connects the Tri-Cities with major cities like Seattle via Interstate 90, while the Tri-Cities Airport in Pasco and the Richland Airport provide general aviation services. Ben Franklin Transit provides public bus service throughout the Tri-Cities area.
